3 Common Nutrition Mistakes Athletes Make

by

Are you making any of these 3 common nutrition mistakes with your nutrition plan?

I see many of my clients making when they first come to see me. I want YOU to know about them so you can start working on it ASAP and improve how you feel and perform.

Common nutrition mistakes

1. You think you are the average person.

I know regular training and movement comes naturally to you, but you my friend ARE NOT the average person, so why are you trying to eat like one? There is a lot of nutrition info we get bombarded with daily. It is information that is “for the masses” and a product of public health initiatives. I am not saying it is all wrong information, but the active lifestyle you live doesn’t always align with these recommendations.

Pro tip: Detox your social media, magazines and websites that aren’t serving you or giving you the information you need as an active person.

2. You are just “winging it” on race day.

Ever heard the term a failure to plan is a plan to fail? I know that sounds harsh but hear me out. Race day is stressful enough, and nutrition is NOT something you HAVE to be stressed about on race day. However, it is highly important and WILL dictate how you feel and perform on race day.

Pro tip: practice your hydration and fueling plan during your training. Mimic race day and see how you feel and perform. If you don’t feel so well, adjust the plan! You will thank me later 🙂

3. You are too focused on big picture thinking and not the day-to-day.

We all need a goal, or desire a certain outcome – but what are you doing day-to-day to work on that goal? Skill-stacking and inputting behaviors that will help you achieve that goal are HIGHLY important to how effective you will be at achieving that goal.

Pro tip: Keep a log of what you are eating and drinking and how you are sleeping for 7 days. Build some awareness on what you are doing so you know where the gaps are, and then adjust what you need to (even just 1 adjustment per week!) to get you on the path to your end goal.

I am accepting new clients for August! If you need help with your nutrition plan, message me, and let’s discuss your goals!
